As of August 2014, you can get 2 GB from Other World Computing for 58 or 4 GB for 85. You will get okay performance from OS X 10.4 Tiger or 10.5 Leopard with 1 GB, but 2 GB is better and RAM must be upgraded in matched pairs. I was going to get the new Dell P4317Q, but found they dont sell them in mexico nor will ship them here, and i wasnt willing to take the risk re-shipping a 40lb panel especially for dead pixels etc. If your 2006 Mac Pro has just 1 GB of system memory, upgrade immediately. I dont mind the bigger pixels (which i'm sure would only be noticable side by side in photoshop) as what i'm using it for the larger format & reasolution ticks all the box's. In saying all that, I needed the screen realestate for gps tracking of my new uber fleet and spreadsheets, which is another reason i went 40" instead of the traditional 27" 4k. There have been a lot of threads about the 4870, 10.5.7, and third party monitors. There isnt really any specific info on brands that work and brands that do not. Not sure how the 4870 and third party monitors will act. Kinda annoyed cause i was looking forward to the hackintosh adventure, Its difficult because you have two possible problems: 1.
